Niltza

Photography with style

Allow me to introduce you to Niltza Santillan Castillo of . Widely regarded as one of the top artistic photographers in Mexico. Take a look at some of her photos below.

Niltza Profile

Photography is a modern art, an art form that perhaps does not get the respect it truely deserves.

There are beautiful events and serene moments in time that we experience every day. Most people do not notice, or even stop to look at, the beauty around them, but with care and attention you can learn to spot the beauty. Being able to see is the easy part though – being able to capture that very moment in all of its magnificence is by far the hardest part – the art of photography.

A good photo is comprised of many things. Not only must you press the shutter at the right moment in time – the colour coordination, the composition and perspective have got to be perfect too….

Each and every image should tell its own story:

Lifestyle Photography

Capturing the real spirit and personalities of all whom we photograph is not an easy job. Lifestyle photography can take place in a variety of settings – from playing on the beach to laughing in the garden or walking in the street.

In most circumstances, lifestyle photography is:

  • lighthearted
  • fun
  • upbeat
  • optimistic

The lighting is pretty much always natural (or natural looking) and the subjects of the photographs are typically quite good looking, and energetic, but most importantly – they should be believable. Check out some of the photos from Niltza – notice how your imagination tries to conjure up a context.

The locations in lifestyle photography are always genuine locations too. If a studio is being used, an environment is typically built to help enhance the story told by the image. There is always an implied context or story to the images.

Wedding Photography

By far and away the main thing that every couple worries about when they plan a wedding is who is going to do their photography.

Apart from your wedding dress, your wedding photos are probably the only physical item that captures and preserves your memories of, what most consider to be, the most important day of your life.

So as you can imagine, many upcoming husbands and wives spend weeks (or months) going through portfolio after portfolio of potential photographers to find the perfect one for them – not everyone can capture your special day in a the perfect way.

In contemporary times, people prefer photography with a natural feel – an unobtrusive feel – taken while everyone is going about their day, rather than photos of everyone in silly poses!

Since wedding photography is usually one of the more expensive items on the check-list for a complete wedding, use a skilled and natural photographer like Niltza to capture your day in a spontaneous manner.  Don’t risk later being embarrassed by your wedding photos and having to keep them in your basement!

Architectural photography

As you can see with Niltza’s examples below, architectural photography is all about developing an extraordinary understanding of architectural space and form.
Below is a picture of what is probably the most famous landmark in the world: the Eiffel Tower. Everyone knows as soon as they see it – “we are in Paris”. This landmark is particularly signifant in architectural photography because it captures an important part of building construction history.

As we mentioned above, any one who has a phone or a camera has probably taking a photo of a building such as a church, castle, or tourist monument (like above). Most of us take  the beauty of the buildings around us for granted, when with just a little extra mindfulness and attention we could all start to look at the environment around us in a whole new way – stepping back and noticing the beauty in its entirety.

This approach to architectural photography that offers much more scope: noticing the intricate details of every stone in an ancient cathedral or the light reflecting on the graphical, morphological shapes of contemporary architecture. You can capture some truely unique moments in time:
